Warning to AKP from YRP's Kılıç: 'The door they greeted yesterday...'
Yeniden Refah Party Deputy Chairman Suat Kılıç sent a message to the AKP in a post on his social media account.
Following claims that 3 members of parliament and 15 mayors would be transferred due to the AKP's anniversary, YRP leader Fatih Erbakan made a statement regarding "political blackmail."
'NEITHER POLITICALLY NOR MORALLY...'
In a written statement today, Erbakan said, "Obstructing the activities of our Yeniden Refah Party mayors to make them unable to serve, and attempting to transfer our mayors to the AK Party through political blackmail, thereby disregarding the will our nation demonstrated on March 31, is not appropriate behavior either politically or morally." Following Erbakan's statement, AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik commented, "The Yeniden Refah Party is attempting to cast suspicion on mayors who have shown the will to join the AKP's politics of works and service of their own free will."
'A REASON FOR SECURITY FOR OUR FRIENDS'
Finally, a response to the AKP came from the YRP side. YRP Deputy Chairman Kılıç said the following in a post on X:
'THE DOOR THEY GREETED... WITH A FIRMNESS THAT WILL NEVER OPEN AGAIN'
"The fact that the Yeniden Refah Party has been favored by our people and has taken third place across Turkey in terms of the recent local elections and official membership numbers is a reason for security, not concern, for our friends.
The Yeniden Refah Party exercised its right to participate in the March 31, 2024, Local Elections nationwide and received the reward for this accurate decision from our people with a 7 percent vote share.
It has never been the goal of Yeniden Refah to help one party win or cause another to lose at any time or on any ground.
When looking at the provinces that the People's Alliance lost to the CHP by participating in the elections separately, the baselessness of the claim will be better understood.
Our advice to our friends is to respect the Yeniden Refah Party's right to exist and participate in elections, and not to close the door they greeted yesterday with a firmness that will never open again."
