Warning to CHP from Mansur Yavaş: 'Instead of internal debates...'

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş made statements regarding current issues.

Emphasizing that the CHP must avoid mistakes to come to power, Yavaş said, "The party must not project an image of confusion or competition. The CHP needs to focus on what it promises to the citizens. Instead of internal debates, they need to focus on and draw attention to the problems of society. These issues need to be made the agenda," he stated.

"THERE IS NO ELECTION"

Regarding the debates surrounding presidential candidacy, Yavaş said, "Our priority is the municipality. There is no election on the horizon. What are we debating?"

"THE CRISIS IS LARGE"

According to the report by Cumhuriyet, Yavaş stated that citizens are experiencing severe problems on the streets, saying, "People cannot afford to buy anything. Farmers cannot sell what they produce, and it arrives here expensive, so people cannot buy it. Therefore, the crisis is large. In this situation, citizens should have already broken away from the AKP, but they also need to trust you. If they break away from there but do not trust you, they will not go to the ballot box."

'MUNICIPALITIES ARE AN IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITY'

Yavaş pointed out that municipalities are an important opportunity to gain the trust of the people. Noting that 11 metropolitan municipalities were won in 2019, Yavaş made the following assessment:

"The result is clear. After people gave us the mandate, they said 'it's a good thing they were elected' and re-elected us by increasing our votes. They always engage in fear-mongering. They say that if we leave, you won't be able to receive any salary. Citizens need to give us a try. If municipalities are managed well, the public will definitely try us."

Stating that the formula to satisfy citizens in a potential CHP government is "Openness, transparency, and accountability," Yavaş said, "The world has solved it this way. These things do not change based on names. These funds are money entrusted to us. We must account for them and spend them on the right path. This logic must now be established."
