What is the goal of the 'new constitution'?
Former TBB Vice President Attorney Hüseyin Özbek evaluated the meeting between Erdoğan and Özel held today for 12punto. Özbek warned, “Beware of the legal trap that will cast Turkey into the bottomless pit of the Middle Ages!”
While on one hand, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Numan Kurtulmuş has embarked on a 'new constitution' tour, a “historic summit” also took place in Ankara.
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel met with AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The two did not make any statement following the meeting, which lasted approximately one and a half hours. The main agenda item of the meeting was the ‘new constitution’ effort.

‘THE GOAL IS TO TRANSITION FROM A REIS REGIME WITHOUT A CONSTITUTION TO A REIS REGIME WITH A CONSTITUTION’
Former Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) Vice President Attorney Hüseyin Özbek evaluated the ‘new constitution’ agenda for 12punto.
Warning, “Beware of the legal trap that will permanently sever Turkey from the civilized world and cast it into the bottomless pit of the Middle Ages!” Özbek stated, “At the end of the fishing line is the bait of a ‘New and Civil Constitution,’ which they made the ‘Yes, but not enough’ crowd swallow in the recent past.”
Özbek continued his remarks on the ‘new constitution’ as follows:
To make the public swallow this stale bait once again, they continue their ‘brand new Civil Constitution’ tours without pause!
The real goal is to transition from a Reis regime without a constitution to a Reis regime with a constitution, using a legal shackle that is even more regressive than the Ottoman Empire's first constitution, the Kanuni Esasi (1876)!
