What will the new week in the Turkish Parliament look like?

The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly has an agenda filled with important regulations for the new week. The General Assembly will first discuss the Gulf of Aden mandate. Following that, deliberations on the Turkish Justice Academy Law Proposal will continue.

The General Assembly, which will begin its weekly work on Tuesday, February 4, will first address the Presidential mandate regarding the extension of the duty period of Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) naval elements in the Gulf of Aden, the waters off Somalia, the Arabian Sea, and adjacent regions for one more year, effective from February 10, 2025.

Following this mandate, the General Assembly will discuss law proposals regarding the approval of international agreements made with Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan, and will continue deliberations on the Turkish Justice Academy Law Proposal, of which the first 10 articles have already been accepted.

According to the Turkish Justice Academy Law Proposal, judges and prosecutors who have effectively completed 8 years in the profession may be appointed to the Turkish Justice Academy by the Minister of Justice to serve as faculty members.

A Center for Legal Research will be established within the Academy. Furthermore, an Education Board consisting of 18 people will determine the training programs.

Training and education programs for judge and prosecutor assistants, as well as judges and prosecutors, will be free of charge.

COMMITTEE AGENDAS

Specialized and research committees will also convene to address topics on their agendas.

In the Research Commission on Violence and Abuse Against Children, officials from the Ministry of National Education will be heard.

In the Sub-Commission on the Dissemination and Improvement of Financial Literacy in Turkey under the Petition Commission, officials from the Ministry of Trade and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization (KOSGEB) will make presentations.

In the Artificial Intelligence Research Commission, officials from the Presidential Digital Transformation Office will provide information to members of parliament.

The Sub-Commission on the Rights of Convicts and Detainees of the Human Rights Investigation Commission will discuss the Investigation Reports on Erzurum and Erzincan Penal Institutions.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the parliamentary group meetings of the political parties represented in the Assembly will be held.
