WHO IS ÜMİT UYSAL?

Ümit Uysal was born in 1970. He took his first step into his legal career by graduating from Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1991. During his university years, he wrote stories for various magazines due to his interest in literature. He also drew attention with his curiosity for cinema and theater.

Uysal, who began practicing law in his hometown of Antalya in 1991, joined the Republican People's Party (CHP), which was re-established on September 9, 1992. He served in the party's founding provincial council; he took on active roles in the provincial administration and youth branches. At just 31 years old, he was elected CHP Antalya Provincial Chair in 2001. Under his leadership, the provincial organization won 8 of the 13 parliamentary seats in Antalya in the 2002 general elections.

Nominated by the CHP as the Muratpaşa mayoral candidate in the March 30, 2014 local elections, Ümit Uysal was elected to this position with the support of the public. Uysal, who refreshed his mandate by running again in the 2019 local elections, became the Mayor of Muratpaşa for the third time in the March 2024 elections with 62.3% of the vote.

Married and a father of two, Uysal is fluent in English. He also has a published book titled 'Lavinya'nın Aşkla İmtihanı' (Lavinya's Test with Love).
