Ziya Polat was born in 1976 in the village of Akdere in Adıyaman. After completing his primary and secondary education in Adıyaman, he graduated from the Faculty of Forestry at Istanbul University with a degree in Forest Engineering in 1996.
Polat began his career as a classroom teacher and later held various positions within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. These roles included significant positions such as Forest Management Chief, Afforestation Chief, ORKÖY Chief, and Branch Manager. He served as the Deputy Regional Director at the Şanlıurfa Regional Directorate of Forestry. In June 2013, he was appointed as the Regional Director of Forestry in Elazığ, a position he continued to hold. After serving as the Elazığ Regional Director until September 2019, he was appointed as the Sakarya Regional Director of Forestry, where he served until March 2023.
Most recently, Ziya Polat served as a Chief Inspector at the Inspection Board of the General Directorate of Forestry. He is married and a father of three. Furthermore, he was announced as the candidate for the Adıyaman Metropolitan Municipality in the earthquake-affected region by President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a program held in Ankara.
