Who will be the DEM Party's 'co-mayoral candidate' for Istanbul? The target in Istanbul is 'those votes'

Hürriyet writer Abdulkadir Selvi made assessments regarding Başak Demirtaş's İBB candidacy in his column today. 

Regarding Demirtaş's candidacy, Selvi stated, "In my column yesterday, I wrote that the DEM Party had indicated it would support Ekrem İmamoğlu in Istanbul if Tunç Soyer was nominated in İzmir. Tunç Soyer was not nominated. The DEM Party was waiting for this decision. They immediately took action. Başak Demirtaş submitted her official candidacy application from DEM. Başak Demirtaş is very close to being the candidate."

WHO WILL BE THE 'CO-MAYOR'?

In his column, Selvi also conveyed the following:

"It is said that DEM will field candidates in İzmir and Istanbul. There is talk that Başak Demirtaş and Celal Fırat will be nominated as co-mayoral candidates in Istanbul.

Başak Demirtaş will appeal to women, Kurds, and socialists, while Celal Fırat will appeal to Alevis and Kurds. Alevis and Kurds in the CHP feel excluded. They are in a state of emotional detachment. The DEM Party has captured this void well and wants to attract Alevi and Kurdish votes to itself."

DEM PARTY'S İZMİR CANDIDATES

Sharing his views on the DEM Party's İzmir candidates, Selvi made the following comment:

"The DEM Party also has a significant base in İzmir. It is said that Beritan Güneş Altın and Sırrı Süreyya Önder will be the co-mayoral candidates in İzmir."
