Who will be the new president of the Union of Municipalities? Will it be İmamoğlu or Yavaş?

CHP has shifted its focus to the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (TBB) elections, which will be held at the beginning of June following the March 31 local elections. 

According to a report by Mustafa Bildircin from BirGün; CHP sources stated that comments suggesting the TBB elections would lead to a race between Mansur Yavaş and Ekrem İmamoğlu were made intentionally, adding, “Neither Mr. Mansur nor Mr. Ekrem wants this to turn into a competition.” It was reported that the CHP's TBB candidate will be determined by CHP Leader Özgür Özel.

The Union of Municipalities of Türkiye will determine its new administration following the election to be held at the beginning of June. 

The CHP, which emerged as the leading party in the March 31 Local Elections, will enter the race with a strong candidate.

HEADQUARTERS WILL DECIDE

In the elections where the CHP candidate is considered certain to win, the identity of the candidate will be announced by CHP Leader Özel following an evaluation to be made with his staff.

In the race where the names of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş stand out, all CHP mayors will be expected to stand behind the candidate without any defections.

According to information obtained from CHP sources, the position of the Yeniden Refah Party (YRP) delegates in Gaziantep and Maraş, which are cities of critical importance in the TBB elections, will influence the result. It is assessed that the support to be given by YRP delegates would strengthen the election of the CHP candidate. 

If the candidate is Mansur Yavaş, it is predicted that all delegates from the Central Anatolia region will provide support. According to the information obtained, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel will make his final decision after a final evaluation with his staff.
