Will there be cooperation in the YRP-AKP crisis? Fatih Altaylı: 'This negotiation will likely continue until the morning of the election'

Yeniden Refah Deputy Chairman Suat Kılıç announced in his statement yesterday that alliance negotiations with the AKP had been cut off. The latest statement from the Yeniden Refah Party, whose potential cooperation with the AKP has been a subject of curiosity, has shifted the balance in Istanbul.

Journalist Fatih Altaylı made a striking comment regarding the negotiations.

"IT COULD BE DECISIVE"

Fatih Altaylı, drawing attention to the claim that the YRP holds 4 percent of the vote, said the following:

"If you ask me, the Yeniden Refah Party caught the AK Party off balance in places like Ankara and Istanbul before the local elections. They hold a very valuable 4 percent vote potential in Istanbul. This 4 percent vote potential could be decisive for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) mayoral race."

"THEY ARE IN NEED OF THESE VOTES"

Claiming that the AKP is in need of YRP votes specifically in Istanbul, Altaylı stated, "The AK Party is rightly making plans to prevent the votes that the CHP is expected to receive from the DEM Party and the IYI Party. The Yeniden Refah Party also sees that it has the power to negate the advantage the AK Party would gain from that. They know that the AK Party is in need of these votes and could give anything to win Istanbul."

"I AM NOT SURE IF IT WILL WORK"

Altaylı continued his statement with the following remarks:

"That is why this negotiation will continue until the very last moment, almost until the morning of the election. However, the YRP base, while large in the past, is a group that has broken away from the AK Party today. I am not sure if they will lean toward the AK Party again. They might not do so in the local election. Let me tell you the outcome of this negotiation: The AK Party will eventually surrender. But I am not sure if this surrender will work."
