Yavuz Ağıralioğlu reacts to 'framework law': Öcalan knows what it is, I don't

Anahtar Party Chairman Yavuz Ağıralioğlu reacted to the regulation expected to be submitted to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), which is referred to in the public as a “framework law,” during a press conference held at the party headquarters.

Arguing that sufficient information has not been shared regarding the process presented as a “Terror-Free Turkey,” Ağıralioğlu said, “Öcalan knows the law referred to as the ‘framework law’ of the process presented as a Terror-Free Turkey, but I do not. The murderers in Qandil know, but I do not.”

Stating that the Anahtar Party corresponds to 3-4 million votes in polling averages, Ağıralioğlu expressed that as a political party, they do not know the content of the regulation. He criticized the way the process is being conducted with the words, “We do not know what the law is. We do not know what is being discussed. I do not know right now either. You are forcing me to speak about something I do not know.”

Ağıralioğlu claimed that the government is engaging the Parliament with İmralı and Qandil, stating, “You established a commission. You said, ‘I will go if necessary.’”

In his speech, Ağıralioğlu stated that the Anahtar Party defends sensitivities regarding the state, nation, law, democracy, the Republic, and the unitary structure, and said they are against the identification of Kurdish citizens with the PKK.

Ağıralioğlu said, “The Anahtar Party is also the fortress of the sensitivity that will not lose the Kurd to the PKK, with the unitary structure, as in Lausanne.” Regarding the Kurdish language, he assessed, “It is the language of our nation. It is their mother tongue; they learn it, develop it, and are helped to develop it.”

Responding to journalists' questions during the press conference, Ağıralioğlu touched upon the debates regarding regulations for martyrs' families and veterans. Reminding that the families of rank-and-file martyrs and veterans were seeking their rights at Güvenpark in Ankara, Ağıralioğlu said this situation is shameful for the political institution.

Ağıralioğlu stated, “While on one hand a process is being conducted with Öcalan and the PKK under the name of a Terror-Free Turkey, the fact that our children are forced to protest in a park to seek their rights is a shame not for the party, but for the political institution. This is our shame. I apologize on behalf of politics.”
