The Yeni Parti Central Executive Board (MYK) met at the party headquarters under the chairmanship of Chairman Özgür Özel. Speaking after the meeting, which lasted approximately 2.5 hours, Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre made evaluations regarding both the internal party congress process and current debates.
Emre stated that congresses were held in 69 provinces across Turkey over the weekend and noted that they are working on a primary election model that aims for provincial and district chairs, as well as the chairman, to be elected with the participation of all members. Expressing that participation was over 65 percent, Emre reported that more than half a million people out of over 750 thousand members participated in the elections.
Stating that there was a change in 13 provinces during the congresses and that multiple candidates competed in many provinces, Emre said that 5 candidates emerged in both Aydın and Ankara. Emre expressed his belief that his party will increase its support until the elections and will become "Turkey's number one party."
RESPONSE TO GROUP TREASURY ALLEGATIONS
Responding to questions from members of the press, Emre also addressed the claims by CHP's Faik Öztrak that "the TBMM group treasury was emptied when the Özgür Özel administration took office." Emre said that those who have allegations and documents can apply to the prosecutor's office.
Defending that "there was no donation involved" in the debate regarding dues and deductions taken from deputies, Emre stated that donations are made to party headquarters, while deductions made for group expenses are different. Emre stated that the deductions made from deputies "for the routine expenses of the parliamentary group" were returned to the relevant deputies during the period when the separation from the party became evident.
Stating, "Whoever is forming a group has deposited that resource for their expenses there," Emre said that approximately 40 deputies who wanted to remain in the group deposited the money back into that group, and that more than 90 deputies who acted with them provided this deduction upon the Yeni Parti group making the deduction.
Describing the allegations in question as an "artificial agenda," Emre said, "The government is in a difficult situation due to the recent fund robbery; the 'butlancılar' are also trying to help them and keep us busy with artificial agendas."
Touching upon the Ekrem İmamoğlu case in his post-meeting statement, Emre drew attention to the defense in Silivri and claimed that the trial was not conducted fairly. Criticizing the scope of the case files and the trial conditions, Emre argued that the process shows the "desperation" of the government.
Announcing that they have decided to hold a rally in solidarity with Halk TV at the MYK, Emre called on Istanbul residents to gather in front of the Halk TV building on Wednesday at 19.30. Stating that Özgür Özel will also consult with the chairmen of other political parties on the issue, Emre used the expression, "This is not just a Yeni Parti issue."
Regarding the question about the resignation of SPK Chairman Mahmut Sütçü, Emre said that they are investigating the reasons for the resignations. Stating that various names have been conveyed to them, Emre noted that they share the information they can verify with the public without delay.
