YENİ Party has responded to allegations that 5 million TL accumulated in the CHP's membership dues account was transferred to the party as a donation. YENİ Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre denied the claims, stating that the amount in question was a refund of the remaining portion of group deductions made from parliamentary salaries.
Fatih Atik, the Ankara Representative for TGRT Haber, known for its proximity to the government, had claimed that the 5 million TL in the CHP's dues account was sent back to the deputies who would be moving to the YENİ Party the following day, and that the money was subsequently transferred to the YENİ Party's donation account.
Speaking on a live broadcast on Halk TV, Emre argued that it was incorrect to characterize this as a "donation." Emre said, "We are leaving, we are departing, and are we also supposed to cover the expenses of our friends who remain in the CHP? Are we supposed to handle the group's expenditures? Honestly, I have never heard of anything so absurd."
Emre also reacted to the allegations being brought back to the agenda today. Pointing to the fund scandal, Emre stated, "The fact that this is being served up today as if something major has been discovered, even though it was discussed at that time, actually shows a null and void cooperation with the People's Alliance. We are facing a massive fund fraud that has caused a loss of approximately 90 billion dollars to our country."
