Yeniden Refah Party MP Ali Yüksel held a press conference at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Addressing the issue of civil servant retirement pensions during the conference, Yüksel claimed that for the first time in the history of the Republic, a statutory pay raise was granted to active civil servants but withheld from civil servant retirees.
Stating that civil servants and their retirees, who are subject to the same laws and regulations, have been separated, Yüksel said, "Most of the millions of civil servant retirees who served in every corner of the country under all conditions without hesitation have been condemned to receive retirement pensions below the minimum wage, and many even below the hunger threshold."
Asserting that civil servant retirees have reached a point where they can no longer make ends meet, Yüksel added, "The justice lost between civil servants and civil servant retirees must be restored."
