Yıldırım gives a harsh response to Mansur Yavaş's 'Mamak Municipality' remarks

As local elections approach, the harsh statements candidates make toward one another are also increasing. Mansur Yavaş made striking allegations regarding his IYI Party rival Yıldırım during a live broadcast he attended.

CHP Ankara Metropolitan Mayor and candidate Mansur Yavaş made a bombshell claim regarding IYI Party candidate Cengiz Topel Yıldırım.

Yavaş stated that Yıldırım had asked him for the Mamak Municipality, and when he did not accept, he became a candidate from the IYI Party.

Cengiz Topel Yıldırım responded to these allegations by Mansur Yavaş on his social media account:

"Mansur Yavaş, one does not answer you, one only makes a diagnosis. You are either a chronic liar or a case of severe schizophrenia. Unfortunately, you will be the subject of 140journos documentaries in the future.

Upon the news that I would be a candidate from the IYI Party, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel invited me to meet, expressed his sadness over this candidacy, and worked to prevent it. As part of this effort, you invited me, and I accepted to meet with you upon his request.

In this meeting, I told you, looking you straight in the eye, that I would be the IYI Party candidate. Upon this, you brought up the subject of Mamak Municipality out of the blue, and with an attitude like someone dividing their ancestral land among their children, you said, 'I gave Mamak to Mesut'.

Unlike you, I do not have a habit of sharing private meetings with the public or distorting events. Therefore, you can rest easy; the topics we discussed in the meetings I had with both you and Mr. Özgür will remain confidential with me, as long as you do not lie.

However, with what you said this evening, you have shown us all that you skillfully set traps and can lie without batting an eye. You and those around you seem to be blinded by ambition for office and position.

Now, I invite you back to seriousness and dignity. Answer the corruption allegations I have presented with documents regarding you, and account for the five years you spent without any tangible achievements other than distributing soup, which will be talked about for generations. If you can dare to have a democratic debate instead of staged interviews, I will always be here to discuss these with you face to face."
