Young man who said ‘I am a TKP member but I will vote for the AKP’ turns out to be an AKP Youth Branch executive

The pro-government outlet A Haber produced a report intended to manipulate public opinion regarding the local election campaign of the AKP’s İzmir candidate, Hamza Dağ.

In the report in question, a young man who claimed to be a member of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) told Hamza Dağ that he would be voting for the AKP for the first time.

Hamza Dağ responded to the young man, who claimed to be a TKP member, by saying, “I have heard it from many CHP members, and from the İYİ Party as well, but this is the first time I am hearing it from the TKP.”

According to a report by T24, it was soon revealed that the person who claimed to be a TKP member is Tuğrul Mustafa Turgut, a member of the AKP’s İzmir Youth Branch.

On the official website of the AKP İzmir Youth Branch, it was observed that Tuğrul Mustafa Turgut served as a member of the Board of Directors of the AKP İzmir Youth Branch during the 2018-2019 period and has been serving as the Head of Economic and Financial Affairs for the AKP İzmir Youth Branch since 2019. His biography section states, "Board member at the family company operating in the children's playground sector."

In a report published by Birgün by Mustafa Bildircin in January 2023, it was written that the İzmir Governor's Office's playground equipment tender was awarded to Tuğrul Mustafa Turgut's company. It was revealed that a contract worth 1.3 million TL had been signed between the AKP member's company and the Governor's Office.
