YRP Chairman Erbakan's 'Gaza' call to Parliament: They requested a 1-year deployment
New Welfare Party (YRP) Chairman Fatih Erbakan has submitted a petition to Parliament. The petition requests the deployment of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) to establish a security corridor to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.
New Welfare Party leader Fatih Erbakan has requested that the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) be deployed to Gaza for a period of 1 year.
In a written statement regarding the matter, he included the following remarks:
"Unfortunately, no steps have been taken to date, and the oppression continues in all its horror. Today, we say that we should at least deliver humanitarian aid to the innocent civilians there. In this direction, as New Welfare Party deputies, we have applied to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) with a petition. Our petition text is as follows;
‘In order to alleviate the deprivations faced by the Palestinian people in Gaza, who have been condemned to live under blockade for years, due to Israeli attacks, we respectfully request and demand that a decision be made in accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution to deploy elements of the Turkish Armed Forces, whose borders, scope, and quantity will be determined by the President, for a period of one year in Gaza to establish a safe zone on land and a security corridor at sea, so that humanitarian aid provided from Turkey and the world can be delivered directly to the victims and those in need in cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent, the Palestine Red Crescent, and the International Committee of the Red Cross.’ We want this request of ours to be voted on in Parliament as soon as possible and for our Parliament to take a decision in this direction with the support of all parties represented in the assembly."
