YRP's Mehmet Altınöz had confirmed it: Bülent Arınç responds to Karamollaoğlu's 'Erbakan' claim!

Saadet Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu claimed in a live broadcast he attended recently that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wanted to have Necmettin Erbakan imprisoned in 2006.

Speaking on KRT TV, Karamollaoğlu said, "When Erbakan Hoca was sentenced to prison in 2006, Tayyip Erdoğan had his house surrounded by police. He made a great effort to have him imprisoned."

Yeniden Refah Party Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Mehmet Altınöz confirmed Karamollaoğlu's claim, which has become a major topic of discussion.

Following the statements by Karamollaoğlu and Altınöz, former Parliament Speaker Bülent Arınç published a written statement on his personal X (Twitter) account.

Bülent Arınç stated, "We immediately did everything in our power to eliminate the possibility of our late Erbakan Hoca entering prison. I gave the instruction to work on the necessary legal regulation to ensure that no negative situation would arise for our Hoca by calling our then-group deputy chairman Sadullah Ergün, after consulting with our then-Prime Minister, our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan..."

'HE WAS FORCED TO APPROVE'

In the statement he made on his personal X account, Bülent Arınç, who argued that the claims of Karamollaoğlu and Altınöz did not reflect the truth, explained the 'special law' enacted for Erbakan.

Arınç's statement is as follows:

"A few words became necessary regarding the claims put forward by Saadet Party Chairman Mr. Karamollaoğlu in a television program recently and subsequently confirmed by Mehmet Altınöz. The claims put forward do not reflect the truth! How the process developed can be seen in detail in the news in the link I shared below. We immediately did everything in our power to eliminate the possibility of our late Erbakan Hoca entering prison, which was the case at that time. As the Speaker, I gave the instruction to work on the necessary legal regulation to ensure that no negative situation would arise for our Hoca by calling our then-group deputy chairman Sadullah Ergün, after consulting with our then-Prime Minister, our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

After the relevant bill was accepted in parliament, it was vetoed by the president of the time, Ahmet Necdet Sezer; we, on the other hand, accepted the law again on the same day without making any changes and referred it to Sezer, and he was forced to approve it in accordance with our constitution. Subsequently, the CHP took action and carried the relevant law to the Constitutional Court.

HE SAID 'CLOSEST WITNESSES' AND NAMED NAMES

Following the Constitutional Court's rejection of the CHP's objection, the law entered into force, and it was ensured that our late Hoca would serve the sentence in question at his home. Among the closest witnesses to what happened during this period are Mr. Recai Kutan, Yasin Hatipoğlu, Mustafa Kamalak, and Şeref Malkoç. They are the ones who came to me and conveyed this request.

There are many issues that I have witnessed closely, and various requests conveyed by our Erbakan Hoca to our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and to us at that time were fulfilled without hesitation. Our Hoca conveyed his thanks and appreciation to me specifically and to all our friends who served in this regard in general.

The issue that Mr. Karamollaoğlu and Altınöz have brought up has never been on the agenda anywhere until today. I am of the opinion that presenting a subject that has passed years ago to the public again in a way far from the facts, in these days when the March 31 Local Elections are approaching, does not comply with political ethics."
