A new decision has been taken regarding T24, whose website had previously been blocked. T24's X account, which had its username changed, has also been blocked from access within Turkey.
Previously, T24's website had been blocked by a decision of the Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace. The platform's X account, which has 1.9 million followers, had not been made invisible from Turkey by X, but the account's username had been changed from @t24comtr to @t24comtr_.
According to Engelliweb, the account with the username @t24comtr_ has now been blocked from access on the grounds of "preventing the commission of crimes and protecting public order." Following the decision, T24 changed its X username again, updating it to @t24_com_tr.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The access ban on T24's website had come to the agenda within the scope of operations carried out under the name "My Family is Safe" (Ailem Güvende). The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had announced that the decision was taken due to "118 pieces of content that constitute LGBT propaganda."
During the same process, while many people were detained, access bans were also imposed on the social media accounts of some journalists. Recently, the X accounts of soL Haber, Evrensel newspaper, and Kısa Dalga had also come to the agenda with access ban decisions.
