Journalist İsmail Arı has been arrested as part of an investigation conducted following a complaint by former RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin.
Arı was summoned to the Ankara Police Department's Security Branch on October 20 for questioning. Upon arriving at the police station at the specified time, he was notified of a detention order.
It was stated that Arı is being accused of "insulting a public official due to their duty" and "spreading misleading information to the public" as part of the investigation.
Having spent the night in police custody, Arı was referred to the courthouse on the morning of October 21. Following his statement to the prosecutor and a subsequent hearing before a judge, a decision was made to arrest him.
