Joint statement from 69 organizations: "Açık Radyo must remain open!"

69 organizations have issued a joint statement against the termination of Açık Radyo's broadcasting life. The statement declared, "Açık Radyo must remain open."

A joint statement has been issued by 69 NGOs regarding Açık Radyo, whose license was recently revoked and terrestrial broadcasting was terminated. In the call made to the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), the statement read, "Açık Radyo, which has become one of the world's best examples of collectivism and solidarity, must remain open."

The statement issued against the closure of Açık Radyo, which was founded on November 13, 1995, included the following remarks:

"It has been a platform for any individual facing discrimination; it has stood up for and been the voice of people being bombed, regardless of their ethnic, religious, or social affiliation; it has lent an ear to the voices of refugees living in fear with every step they take; it has stood by workers seeking their rights through words, actions, or strikes; it has brought the voices of those scorned or persecuted for their sexual identity into the public sphere; it has amplified the cries of those struggling with earthquakes, fires, and disasters; it has held a microphone to the ecosystem, without distinguishing between humans, flora, and fauna, wherever there is destroyed biodiversity, a culture on the verge of disappearing, a lost language, or forgotten music; with its employees, volunteer programmers, and supporters, Açık Radyo, which has become one of the world's best examples of collectivism and solidarity, must remain open!"
