Journalist Murat Ağırel detained: Taken to Istanbul Police Headquarters following a search of his home

Journalist Murat Ağırel was detained in the morning hours. It was reported that a search was conducted at Ağırel's home and that he was taken to the Istanbul Police Headquarters following the search.

Ağırel had been under house arrest due to his reporting on the fund investigation. Ağırel, who brought allegations regarding Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat to the agenda within the scope of the investigation, had previously shared a photo of himself with an electronic tag, stating, "You can put a shackle on my leg, but you cannot eliminate these questions."

The detention comes at a time when legal proceedings against journalists are being debated. Yesterday, Halk TV writer and programmer Bahadır Özgür was also detained, and it was reported that an access ban decision had been issued regarding Özgür's X account, which has 163 thousand followers.
