Former İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener has filed a lawsuit against journalist Ayşenur Arslan.
Arslan, whose program titled Medya Mahallesi on Halk TV was previously terminated, announced the lawsuit filed against her by Akşener on social media. In her post, Arslan stated the following:
Today, a lawsuit notification arrived in the mail. Meral Akşener has filed a complaint regarding one of my articles. She is demanding my punishment. I am not surprised. It suits her!!
Akşener had previously addressed Arslan during an İYİ Party group meeting with the following sentences:
“A lady disguised as a journalist both wrote and turned into a news story on Halk TV that I had said to someone, that is, to a minister, to a former AKP deputy, that ‘because Kemal Bey is Alevi and Kurdish’—even though Kemal Bey’s family comes from Khorasan—‘I will not make him a presidential candidate.’ There was a fight going on there, a fight over the liquidation of Kemal Bey’s friends. They tried to cover it up with me.”
