5-day protest ban imposed in Batman
The Batman Governor's Office has announced that gatherings, marches, and press statements in open areas across the city are prohibited for 5 days, effective from June 10.
In a statement issued by the Batman Governor's Office, it was announced that a 5-day ban has been imposed on activities such as gatherings, marches, and press statements in open areas across the city, effective from June 10 until 23:59 on June 14.
The statement read: "In order to prevent provocative actions that could damage our national unity and solidarity, to ensure national security, public order and safety, to protect the fundamental characteristics of the republic and the indivisible integrity of the state with its country and nation, to prevent potential illegal actions and avoid unfortunate incidents, and considering the serious indications that public order and safety will be disrupted in a way that would stop or interrupt daily life, and that ensuring the safety of life and property, personal immunity, security regarding disposal, and public welfare will become difficult; regarding the removal of the Hakkari Mayor from office and the appointment of Hakkari Governor Ali Çelik as acting mayor, or similar actions and events that may be carried out using this issue as a pretext, all kinds of actions such as gatherings, marches, vigils, press statements, hunger strikes, sit-ins, rallies, setting up stands, erecting tents, distributing leaflets and brochures, and hanging posters and banners in open areas related to the aforementioned events, as well as the entry of individuals and vehicles understood to be coming to participate in such actions or using our provincial borders to pass to other provinces into our provincial borders, and for our outer districts, the exit or entry to our city center for the purpose of participating in potential actions and events, have been decided to be prohibited within our provincial and district administrative borders for 5 days from 00:00 on Monday, June 10, to 23:59 on Friday, June 14, 2024, in accordance with Articles 17 and 19 of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911 and Articles 11/A, B, and C of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442."
