Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş has shared the details of the new regulation regarding differentiated services for children and the age verification process on social media platforms.
In a statement on her social media account, Göktaş announced that the "Regulation on the Provision of Differentiated Services Specific to Children and Age Verification by Social Network Providers" has been published in the Official Gazette.
According to the regulation, age verification for social media usage will become mandatory via the e-Devlet Gateway. Minister Göktaş stated that this step aims to protect children from the risks of the digital world and to create safe digital spaces.
AIMING TO INCREASE OBLIGATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
According to Göktaş's statement, content appropriate for their age and developmental level will be provided to children in the 15-18 age group. The new regulation aims to strengthen the oversight capabilities of parents and increase the obligations and responsibilities of social media platforms.
In her assessment of the regulation, Minister Göktaş stated, "We will continue to work with determination for the safety of our children, the peace of our families, and our future. May it be beneficial to our children and our families."
