Amnesty announced! Accumulated premium debts will be erased

Citizens whose insurance coverage was interrupted due to unemployment are focused on the mini-amnesty expected to pass through Parliament as part of the Omnibus Bill.

Citizens who have been unable to go to hospitals due to accumulated General Health Insurance (GSS) debts have turned their eyes to the mini-amnesty proposal, which is considered certain to pass in Parliament. A clause regarding General Health Insurance (GSS) premium debts has been added to the Omnibus Bill. According to the regulation, referred to as a mini-amnesty, citizens' GSS premium debts, including late interest, will be erased in one go.

Article 54 of the 80-article Omnibus Bill submitted to Parliament is entirely dedicated to GSS debts.

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THE GSS AMNESTY?

Those who have GSS premium debts from before January 1, 2014, will be able to benefit from the mini-amnesty regulation included in the Omnibus Bill. General health insurance premiums accumulated up to this date will be wiped clean, including late payment fees.

GSS PREMIUM AMOUNT IS CALCULATED BASED ON THE MINIMUM WAGE

Since GSS premiums are determined based on the minimum wage, they increase at the same rate. The monthly premium amount to be paid until the end of 2024 is 600 liras, and the annual premium corresponds to 7 thousand 200 liras. There may be more than one individual with GSS debt in a single family.

THOSE WITH GSS DEBT CAN ONLY GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM

During periods when SGK or Bağ-Kur insurance is not paid, citizens are required to pay a GSS premium every month to cover health services. The Social Security Institution (SGK) has the right to demand unpaid GSS premium debts from citizens through enforcement proceedings. A person with GSS debt can only use the emergency services at state hospitals and cannot receive treatment for any ailment by visiting outpatient clinics.
