Banks in Ankara remain open during NATO Summit: Security-related delays possible at branches

As security and traffic measures are increased in Ankara for the 2026 NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, the operational status of banks has become a subject of interest. There is no official decision to suspend general banking operations during the summit.

Banks are expected to continue providing services during their standard business hours. However, it is noted that some branches located near summit routes may experience short-term restrictions on entry and exit or transportation delays due to security measures.

It is stated that traffic flow may occasionally slow down due to intensive security operations, particularly around the Presidential Complex, Beştepe, Söğütözü, Çankaya, and along summit routes. For this reason, citizens planning to conduct transactions at a branch are advised to contact their respective bank branch before setting out.

Those who prefer not to visit a branch can continue to perform their transactions via mobile banking, internet banking, ATMs, and telephone banking. While there is no decision to close banks nationwide, it is reminded that temporary measures may be encountered at points near the summit in Ankara.
