Breaking News: Statement from the Ministry of National Defense regarding Article 8 of the framework law!

The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) made a statement regarding the work being carried out on the framework law during its weekly briefing meeting.

MSB Press and Public Relations Advisor Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk stated that the second opening process, called "Terror-Free Turkey," has "historical importance" in terms of permanently removing terrorism from Turkey's agenda.

Aktürk reported that the ministry has begun work on the implementation of Article 8 of the Law in coordination with the relevant institutions. The statement emphasized that the Turkish Armed Forces continue their activities against threats to Turkey's security both within and beyond its borders.

"Our Ministry has begun the necessary work for the implementation of Article 8 of the Law in full harmony and coordination with the relevant institutions of our state. Our Turkish Armed Forces continue their struggle against all kinds of threats and dangers directed at the survival and security of our country, uninterruptedly and decisively, at our borders and beyond."

In this context, Aktürk also announced that 3 more PKK terrorists who fled from shelter areas surrendered last week.

Evaluations regarding the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement were also shared at the meeting. Aktürk stated that the agreement is not an alternative or rival structure to NATO, but aims to contribute to regional security and stability. It was stated that the agreement is a defensive mechanism aimed at developing military cooperation between the three countries and does not define any country as a common enemy or adversary.

The MSB also provided information regarding the F-16 aircraft that crashed in Yalova. Aktürk said that an F-16 belonging to the Air Force, which was conducting a training flight as part of the 2026 Air Force Academy Student Selection Flights, crashed at the 18th Main Base Command/Yalova on August 12.

It was reported that the pilot, who ejected from the aircraft using the ejection seat, is in good health. It was noted that the cause of the accident will be determined after a detailed investigation is conducted.
