Certain rail system lines in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir will be free on October 29

With decision number 11919 published in the Official Gazette under the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, free passage will be implemented on certain rail public transport lines in three major cities for the October 29 Republic Day.

According to the decision, the implementation will be valid throughout Thursday, October 29, 2026. The regulation aims to facilitate the transportation of citizens who will participate in the celebrations in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir.

LINES THAT WILL BE FREE

In Istanbul, Marmaray, the Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme Rail System Line, and the Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport-Halkalı Metro Line will provide free service.

In Ankara, Başkentray services, and in Izmir, İZBAN services will be available for free throughout the same day. Within the scope of the decision, individuals who use these lines will be exempt from fares within the framework of the relevant provision of Law No. 4736.
