Family physicians, healthcare workers, and midwives will go on strike again in January to continue their protest against the Family Medicine Contract and Payment Regulation.
HOW LONG WILL THE STRIKE LAST?
Dr. Derya Mengücük, President of the Unity and Solidarity Union (Birlik ve Dayanışma Sendikası), announced that they will go on strike again from January 6-10, 2025, stating that their wages are being arbitrarily reduced by setting unattainable targets for them.
Mengücük stated, "As family physicians and family health workers across Turkey, we will continue our resistance against unjust practices that are contrary to human dignity."
"OUR SALARIES ARE BEING ARBITRARILY REDUCED"
Stating that significant deductions are being made to salaries due to performance targets set against the will of family physicians and family health workers under the new regulation, Mengücük said, "This situation makes job security and retirement security almost impossible. Our wages are being arbitrarily reduced with unattainable targets, and the quality of healthcare services is being jeopardized."
