A digital verification period is beginning for the ticket purchasing process for citizens who have the right to free train travel. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the data integration between TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş. and the Ministry of Family and Social Services, which will allow for the electronic verification of eligibility, has been completed.
The new application will be launched on October 29, 2026. Accordingly, disabled citizens, veterans, relatives of martyrs, and other citizens with the right to free travel will be able to obtain their free train tickets after a query is performed via their Turkish ID numbers.
The application will operate through the TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş. website, mobile applications, and ticket counters. When a passenger enters their Turkish ID number and selects the relevant tariff, an instant eligibility check will be performed via the Ministry of Family and Social Services database. If the query results are positive, the free ticket will be generated automatically.
WHICH DOCUMENTS WILL BE REQUIRED DURING TRAVEL?
Passengers who purchase tickets with digital verification will only need to show their Turkish ID cards along with their tickets during boarding and checks during the journey. Physical proof of eligibility, such as disability, veteran, or martyr relative cards, will not be requested from these individuals.
Those traveling with alternative identification documents such as passports or driver's licenses will be required to present their eligibility cards or the instant, live QR-coded digital identification documents generated via the Engelsiz (Barrier-Free) Mobile Application. Documents in the form of screenshots, photos, or PDFs will not be considered valid.
With the start of the new system, existing records created in the ticket sales system since 2014 that have free or discounted travel packages defined will be deactivated. It was stated that eligible individuals will be informed about the transition process and the new application via SMS and other communication channels.
Citizens whose free travel eligibility query results in a negative outcome will be directed to the provincial and district directorates of the Ministry of Family and Social Services for eligibility updates and data verification procedures.
