Official Gazette published: Class B drivers will be able to ride Class A1 motorcycles
The amendment to the Highway Traffic Regulation has been published in the Official Gazette. Accordingly, it has been officially confirmed that Class B license holders will be able to ride Class A1 motorcycles.
The paragraph added to Article 85 of the Highway Traffic Regulation, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 18/7/1997 and numbered 23053 (repeated), determines the necessary conditions and procedures for Class B driver's license holders to ride Class A1 motorcycles. Accordingly, those who wish to ride Class A1 motorcycles with a Class B driver's license must meet the following requirements:
- Have held a Class B driver's license for at least 2 years,
- Meet the health requirements sought for those who will operate two-wheeled vehicles,
- Fulfill conditions such as not having had their driver's license revoked within the last five years.
In addition, a special steering training course and practical examination have been organized for those who meet these conditions. Those who successfully complete this training and examination are issued an A1 class certificate by the Ministry of National Education.
HOW WILL THE REGULATION WORK?
This certificate grants the authority to ride Class A1 motorcycles in our country, excluding motorcycles used for commercial activities. This authorization is processed as a code in the driver's license system records but is not written on the driver's license itself. Certificate holders may have their certificates processed onto their driver's licenses within 2 years if they wish. The codes of individuals who lose this authorization or whose driver's licenses are revoked are automatically canceled.
This Regulation has entered into force on the date of its publication and is being executed jointly by the Ministries of Interior, Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and Transport and Infrastructure.
