Petitions flood the Turkish Parliament: Here are the issues citizens complain about the most

The Turkish Parliament's Petition Commission received thousands of petitions on various issues during the 3rd Legislative Year of the 28th Term. The applications include demands covering a wide range of topics, from working life to environmental regulations.

Petitions regarding working life included proposals such as transitioning to a 4-day work week, reducing working hours for female employees, and allowing one of the parents to work remotely until their children reach the age of 5. Additionally, increasing maternity leave to 24 weeks is among the requested regulations.

DEMANDS REGARDING MILITARY SERVICE

In petitions concerning military service, it was proposed that married individuals be allowed to perform their military service in the district where they reside or at a nearby barracks, and that they receive at least the minimum wage during this period. Furthermore, discounts on paid military service fees or exemptions and deferment facilities for married and employed citizens were requested.

On the other hand, environmental demands, such as restricting or completely banning smoking in the outdoor areas of cafes and restaurants, were also submitted to the commission.

While it was stated that a total of 27,530 petitions reached the commission, it was emphasized that legal regulations must be enacted for these demands to be implemented.
