Serious risk to children: Ministry of Trade recalls that toy!

The Ministry of Trade has issued a recall decision for a toy determined to be unsafe as a result of laboratory analyses conducted within the scope of market surveillance and inspection.

Bekir Kaplan, Press and Public Relations Advisor to the Ministry of Trade, announced in a statement on his social media account that phthalate levels exceeding the limits permitted by legislation were detected in the product. Kaplan stated that it was also determined that the toy poses a choking hazard by breaking into small parts.

The statement emphasized that phthalates, which can negatively affect the development of infants and young children in particular, are among the chemicals whose use in toys is strictly limited.

Due to the identified non-conformities, the supply of the product in question to the market has been banned, and a decision has been made to recall it from the market. It was stated that the decision was announced to the public through the Unsafe Product Information System (GÜBİS).

Stating that the health and safety of children are their "red lines," Kaplan noted that market surveillance and inspections for the supply of safe products will continue in line with scientific analyses and laboratory examinations.
