Service vehicles are changing: The TOGG era in public banks

A response has come from Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek regarding a parliamentary question on whether the service vehicles of public banks will be renewed with TOGG brand vehicles. Şimşek stated that the State Supply Office (DMO) manages the procurement processes for vehicles requested by public institutions and organizations, as well as public banks.

CHP Burdur Deputy İzzet Akbulut asked in his motion whether there is a government decision, an official study conducted under the coordination of the ministry, or a set schedule for replacing the service vehicles of public banks with TOGG. Akbulut also requested clarification on whether there is a target to replace the service vehicles used in all branches of public banks by the end of the year.

According to the report by Cumhuriyet, Minister Şimşek stated in his response that the General Directorate of DMO plans to procure 30,000 electric vehicles gradually by December 31, 2035.

"The DMO manages the procurement processes for vehicles requested by public banks, as well as other public institutions and organizations. Procurement processes began in 2023, and the total number of vehicle purchases is determined within the scope of protocols based on the requests of the institutions and organizations."

According to Şimşek's statement, the purchase numbers will be clarified within the scope of protocols to be made in line with the requests of the institutions. Thus, the processes regarding the vehicle needs of public banks will also become part of the public procurement mechanism carried out through the DMO.
