Warning on minimum wage from Türk-İş
Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay stated that they would walk away from the table if the hunger threshold of 14,000 lira is proposed during minimum wage negotiations. Atalay said, "That is out of the question."
The parties will come together on Monday for minimum wage negotiations. Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay reminded that four workers will be included in the five-person delegation they will send to the Minimum Wage Determination Commission.
'WE WILL WALK AWAY FROM THE TABLE' STATEMENT
While various figures are being mentioned for the minimum wage, Atalay, speaking to Habertürk, responded to the question of what they would do if the 14,000 lira figure, which is the hunger threshold, is brought to the table by saying, "We will walk away from the table."
Stating that they would never accept a wage like 14,250 TL, which some government officials have mentioned and which corresponds to a 25 percent increase, Atalay had said, "It is not right for us to mention a figure. Let's see what they offer; then we will determine our stance. We will bring the proposal to the Presidential Board and make our decision there."
President Atalay had expressed that, considering there will be no increase to the minimum wage for one year, an increase that will provide for a living until the end of the year must be made.
