60Hz screen claim for iPhone 18e: The wait for ProMotion in Apple’s affordable series may continue

60Hz screen claim for iPhone 18e: The wait for ProMotion in Apple’s affordable series may continue

It has been suggested that Apple may not make a major change to the screen of the iPhone 18e model, which is expected to be introduced in 2027. According to a post by Digital Chat Station, known for technology leaks on Weibo, the device may come with a 60Hz LTPS screen panel, in line with the iPhone 17e and iPhone 16e.

If this claim holds true, the iPhone 18e will not feature the 120Hz ProMotion experience that stands out in high-end iPhone models. For the same reason, the Always-On Display feature is also not expected to be offered on this model.

The claims have brought Apple's screen refresh rate preferences for its affordable iPhone series back to the agenda.

In the smartphone market, screens with high refresh rates have become widespread even in lower-priced models, especially on the Android side. It is stated that Apple may keep this feature limited for a while longer in its more accessible iPhone models, which are positioned as the "e" series.

According to Korean reports, it may be necessary to wait until 2028 for a larger screen innovation in the affordable iPhone series. It is claimed that LTPO panels, which can dynamically switch between 1Hz and 120Hz, could be used in the potential fourth-generation model, namely the iPhone 19e.

However, it is reported that this transition depends on Apple meeting its schedule for the new generation LTPO+ screen technology. The plan to use the technology primarily in higher-end models could further delay the arrival of standard 120Hz screens to affordable iPhone models.
