A more affordable VR headset is coming from Apple!
Following the Vision Pro, Apple has begun work on a more affordable VR headset.
Last month, Apple launched the Vision Pro and is now working on a more affordable headset. Of course, when we say affordable, it should be noted that it is more affordable compared to the Vision Pro.
The Apple Vision Pro evoked mixed feelings when it hit the market. While some users thought the device was too heavy, others stated that they generally enjoyed their experience.
However, there were two generally accepted points:
The weight and the price of the device were quite high.
Apple aims to make the price at least a bit more reasonable for its next headset.
The affordable second-generation Vision Pro is expected to be released in late 2025, but Apple is continuing its R&D efforts without slowing down. Initially looking to reduce production costs and manufacture more devices, the company is in talks with alternative suppliers such as SeeYa and BOE instead of Sony, which supplies the micro-displays for the Vision Pro.
With the decrease in display costs and the effect of economies of scale, the price of the Vision Pro could drop from the 3499 dollar band to 1499 dollars. In this case, the Vision Pro is expected to become more preferable.
