Access to Twitch blocked in Turkey
An access ban has been imposed on Twitch, one of Turkey's popular live streaming platforms.
It was stated that the access ban, implemented by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), was taken upon the decision of the General Directorate of the National Lottery Administration.
In the inquiry made on the 'Site Information Inquiry Page' on the BTK website, it is noted that Twitch has been blocked from access by the decision of the General Directorate of the National Lottery Administration dated February 22, 2024, and numbered 2024/7.

Although it appears that the General Directorate of the National Lottery Administration requested the access ban, the exact reason for this request is not fully known.
It was known that broadcasts of casino and similar gambling games, which are prohibited in Turkey, were being conducted on the platform. It is estimated that the decision stems from this.
