Affordable electric vehicle from Volkswagen

Volkswagen has given the first signals of an affordable electric car as part of its goal to expand its electric vehicle portfolio. The model, which it plans to launch in 2027, is expected to have a starting price of approximately 20 thousand euros, making it one of the most economical electric vehicles in the European market.

VOLKSWAGEN IS WORKING ON A 20 THOUSAND EURO ELECTRIC CAR

Volkswagen initially planned to develop its affordable electric vehicle, which it referred to as the ID.1, in partnership with Renault. However, the two companies decided to end this partnership last year. Renault will release its own budget-friendly electric vehicle with the Twingo model, which it will launch in 2026.

Although the partnership failed, Volkswagen remains committed to its goal of producing a 20 thousand euro electric vehicle. The new model is expected to show similarities to the ID.2all concept introduced in 2023 and use the MEB-Small platform. This platform is designed for front-wheel-drive vehicles that offer a range of up to 450 kilometers and feature fast-charging capabilities.

Although the official name has not yet been announced, it is known that Volkswagen has registered the name “ID.EVERY1” with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). This name could be the name of both the concept vehicle and the mass-production model.

The introduction of Volkswagen's new entry-level electric car is planned for March. This event will showcase the company's vision for affordable electric vehicles in Europe.
