AI move from Spain: Large language model under development!

Spain, according to recent reports, has begun designing an AI-based large language model. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated in an announcement ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event that the project will include many local languages in addition to Spanish.

Sanchez emphasized that the model will be completely transparent and open-source, stating that this initiative will be an important step for the country's technological development.

The fact that most large language models focus on the English language creates difficulties for people who speak other languages. This initiative by Spain is seen as an important source of hope for Spanish-speaking cultures.

Sanchez also noted that other countries are expected to begin working on AI models that speak their own native languages. He pointed out that AI technologies will play a critical role in human rights and public services.

The Spanish government will implement the project in collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, the Spanish Supercomputing Network, and the Royal Spanish Academy. It specifically aims to include Spanish-speaking communities in South America in the project as well.

Sanchez praised Barcelona's interest in technological initiatives and said he believes Spain will succeed in the digital revolution. He expressed his hope that all these developments will be for the benefit of society.
