Anthropic announces faster and more cost-effective Claude Sonnet 5.5 model

As competition in the field of artificial intelligence continues unabated, Anthropic has introduced the newest member of its mid-tier model family, Claude Sonnet 5.5. The company aims for the new model, which follows Sonnet 5 released about three months ago, to be a more efficient assistant, particularly in areas such as daily workflows and the preparation of office documents.

According to information shared by Anthropic, Claude Sonnet 5.5 operates 30 percent faster than the previous version. It is also noted that the new model significantly reduces token consumption. This improvement means the Sonnet series has become more competitive in terms of both response times and usage costs.

The Sonnet model is positioned below the top-tier Opus family in Anthropic's product hierarchy. However, according to benchmark results released by the company, Claude Sonnet 5.5 can perform better than Opus 5.5 in agent-based coding tasks. It is stated that the ability to run multiple AI agents simultaneously without exceeding cost limits is effective in this result.

Another highlighted feature of the new model is cybersecurity. Anthropic states that Claude Sonnet 5.5 possesses cybersecurity capabilities "comparable" to Opus 5. In this context, the model has become the first Sonnet version to be subjected to the stricter cybersecurity audits and protection measures applied to the Fable and Opus models.

The company also announced that it is working on a new version for its smallest model, Haiku. Anthropic announced that the Haiku update is planned to be released in the coming weeks, but did not share a specific date.
