Apple ends Samsung's 12-year reign at the top
Tech giant Apple has overtaken Samsung as the world's top-selling smartphone company.
According to data released this week by the International Data Corporation, which provides market research, analysis, and consulting services, Apple sold 234.6 million iPhones in 2023, ending the South Korean rival's 12-year leadership.
APPLE INCREASES MARKET SHARE
Samsung sold 226.6 million phones in 2023. With this, Apple managed to achieve a 20.1 percent market share, while Samsung's share remained at 19.4 percent.
The increase in players such as Google Pixel and Honor in the Android-powered smartphone market was cited as the biggest factor in Samsung's decline. It was also observed that the rise of Huawei in China negatively impacted Samsung's sales.
