Apple enters the foldable phone market with iPhone Duo: Key features of the new model announced

Apple has introduced its long-awaited first iPhone model with a foldable screen. The device, announced at the "Surprise and Shine" event that began at 20:00 Turkish time, was revealed as the iPhone Duo.

With this new model, Apple has officially stepped into the foldable phone market, where Samsung, Huawei, and Google already have a presence. The Duo offers a more compact phone form when closed, while aiming for a large-screen user experience when opened.

SCREEN AND DESIGN FEATURES

The iPhone Duo features a 5.5-inch external screen and an OLED foldable screen that reaches 7.8 inches when opened. The wide panel, which approaches a 4:3 ratio in open use, allows for side-by-side application operation and multitasking.

The device's thickness was announced as 4.8 mm when open and 9.6 mm when closed. In a departure from Apple's previous iPhone designs, Touch ID has been integrated into the power button. It was also stated that the selfie camera is hidden behind the screen.

On the performance side, the new model uses Apple's A20 Pro processor. In line with the device's dual-screen structure, the battery layout is also divided into two sections; there is a battery under each screen. It was reported that the total battery capacity is in the range of 5400 to 5800 mAh.

CAMERA AND PRICE EXPECTATIONS

The camera system includes a 48-megapixel main camera and a 48-megapixel Ultra Wide camera. On the front, there is a 24-megapixel camera. It was also announced that MagSafe support continues in the model.

The sales price of the iPhone Duo, Apple's first model in the foldable phone market, is expected to be over 2000 dollars. With the market launch of the model, it is anticipated that competition in premium foldable phones will intensify further.
