Apple returns to Lightning cable for Vision Pro

Apple's mixed reality headset Vision Pro has revealed new information regarding its battery cables. According to the announcement, it appears that Apple has not completely abandoned the Lightning cable, opting to use a custom version for the Vision Pro.

Images of the Vision Pro's battery input connector have been shared, showing that Apple has adopted a new version of the Lightning cable used in previous models for the Vision Pro. The Lightning cable was used for years to charge iPhones, but Apple complied with the standard after the European Union mandated a transition to USB Type-C. However, the custom cable used in the Vision Pro shows that Apple has not fully parted ways with the Lightning connector.

The only change in the customized Lightning cable is the transition to a 12-pin structure. This has led to an expansion of the cable input. Additionally, notches that connect the Vision Pro-specific battery to the cable are also notable. Users can connect the charging cable to the battery by manipulating these notches using a similar pin. Furthermore, it is stated that in addition to the customized Lightning cable, a USB Type-C input can also be used.
