Apple Vision sells over 200,000 units in 10 days
Apple has finally released its long-awaited augmented reality headset, the Vision Pro. The company, which is currently taking pre-orders, announced that it has sold 200,000 headsets.
Apple's Vision Pro model technological headset has been opened for pre-order with a starting price of 3,499 dollars. The headset, which was officially released in the US on Friday, sold out quickly due to early orders.
For the headset, which went on sale on January 19, shipping times shifted from February to March within a few hours.
"DEMAND WILL DECREASE RAPIDLY"
TF International Securities analyst Min-Chi Kuo, who specializes in Apple's supply chain, had previously estimated that the company sold between 160,000 and 180,000 Vision Pro headsets based on pre-order inventory and delivery times.
Kuo suggests that the Vision Pro is currently a very niche product and that demand will likely decrease rapidly once fanatical fans have placed their orders.
The Vision Pro is Apple's first new product since the company announced the Apple Watch in 2014. The device is a mixed-reality headset that aims to combine the user's virtual experience with the real-world environment. Initial reviews of the headset were largely positive, but the 3,499 dollar price tag suggests that the product will appeal to a more niche audience.
