Apple's 'Siri' defense: It was not sold

U.S. tech giant Apple has stated that Siri's data has never been sold. 

In a statement from Apple, the company's commitment to protecting user data was emphasized.

The statement read, "Apple has never used Siri data to build marketing profiles, has not made it available for advertising, and has not sold it to anyone for any purpose."

The statement noted that technologies are constantly being developed to make "Siri" even more private, and that the company will continue to do so.

The statement emphasized that to protect user privacy, "Siri" is designed to perform as many operations as possible directly on the user's device, and that information is not transferred to Apple servers.

Apple's statement regarding "Siri" came after the company agreed to pay $95 million to settle a class-action lawsuit alleging that its voice assistant technology violated user privacy.

The preliminary settlement, which must be approved by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White in the Northern District of California, was submitted to the federal court in Oakland last week.

The lawsuit in question was filed on the grounds that "Siri" could be activated unintentionally and that conversations recorded without user consent were shared with third parties; Apple had denied the allegations.
