The ARMSX3 emulator, which aims to run PlayStation 3 games on Android devices, has become available for download via the Google Play Store. The presence of the application, which was previously accessible via GitHub, on the official store makes PS3 emulation on Android visible to a wider user base.
The open-source ARMSX3 is based on the infrastructure of the RPCS3 emulator used on computers. Developed by jpolo1224 in collaboration with Whatcookie, the application stands out with its optimizations for Android devices with ARM64 processors.

The download size of the version on the Google Play Store is stated to be approximately 122 MB. To use the application, the PS3 system software must be downloaded separately. It is reported that the momentum in PS3 emulation on Android, which began in 2025 with aPS3e, continues with RPCSX-UI-Android and ARMSX3, which was released in August 2026.
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS STAND OUT
The minimum requirements for ARMSX3 include Android 11 or higher, a 64-bit ARMv8.1 processor, and at least 8 GB of RAM. On the processor side, a chipset at the level of Snapdragon 865 or Snapdragon 870 is required; on the graphics side, a GPU at the level of Adreno 650 or Mali-G57 with Vulkan 1.1 support is requested.
The recommended level for a more stable experience in more games increases significantly. Android 13 or higher, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or newer processor, a graphics unit at the level of Adreno 740, and at least 12 GB of RAM are recommended. For peak performance, a Snapdragon 8 Elite or newer processor, an Adreno 830 or higher GPU, Android 14, and active cooling are suggested.
The emulator also supports custom graphics drivers such as Turnip, which can be used on devices with Snapdragon processors. This support can help improve graphics performance and compatibility in games.
In recent updates, fixes have been made for performance, graphics glitches, save loading, freezing, and crashing issues for games such as Demon’s Souls, Gran Turismo 5, Gran Turismo 6, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and some games in the Ratchet & Clank series.
Installation support for devices without Google Play Services is also among the added innovations. Thus, the installation process becomes more accessible on some Huawei devices and tablets using HarmonyOS. With version 1.0.9, improvements such as a new window showing PS3 system software compilation progress, and the automatic addition of game titles and cover art to the library are also offered.
