Australia announces action plan on artificial intelligence
The Australian government has shared its action plan with the public in response to the "rapid rise" of artificial intelligence.
According to a written statement from the Australian Department of Industry, Science and Resources, an action plan regarding "artificial intelligence" has been prepared in collaboration with the public sector, academia, and the business world.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TECHNOLOGIES ALSO BRING RISKS
Under the plan, new laws will be drafted to mitigate risks in "high-risk" technologies, such as self-driving vehicles. Organizations using high-risk artificial intelligence technology will also be required to appoint a person to oversee its compliance.
Australian Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic, in a statement to the ABC, noted that it will be mandatory to include a disclosure for content generated by artificial intelligence in all fields, stating, "We need to be sure whether what we are seeing is real and organic or if it was produced by artificial intelligence."
