It has been revealed that Samsung is working on a new safety measure against overheating in its Galaxy Buds earbuds. Phrases found in the code of version 9.0.10.1724 of the Galaxy Buds app indicate that the earbuds may automatically shut down in the event of overheating.
In the company's current warnings, users are advised to remove the device from their ears immediately if the earbuds feel hot or emit a beeping sound, and not to use them again until they have cooled down completely. Samsung also previously recommended not placing an overheating earbud back into its charging case.
The reason for this warning is that the batteries in Galaxy Buds models can be affected by high temperatures. Placing a hot earbud into a closed charging case can lead to heat retention, and the case starting to charge the earbud is also considered a risk that could increase the temperature.
According to the new code, the overheating earbud will shut down for safety purposes. The user will need to place both earbuds in the case and wait for a while; the earbuds will be usable again once they have cooled down.
Samsung has not yet officially announced this change. There has also been no update regarding the new guidance in the company's support documents. Therefore, it is not yet clear when the feature will be made available.
