Bad news for FM fans: Completely cancelled

SEGA, one of the long-standing companies in the video game world, has made an announcement that has disappointed football fans. The company announced that Football Manager 25 (FM 25), which has been long-awaited and delayed multiple times throughout its development process, has been completely cancelled.

WHAT IS THE LATEST STATUS ON FM 25?

The development phase of Football Manager 25 faced many technical and structural challenges. While the game, which had already been delayed twice, was expected to be released in March, it was reported that despite all the efforts of the SEGA team, the targeted quality standards could not be met.

The company stated, “Although we delayed the launch several times, we saw that even when we reached the critical stages of the project, it did not reach the level we wanted. We achieved our goals in many areas of the game, but we could not capture the quality we desired in terms of the overall player experience and interface.”

Furthermore, SEGA stated that releasing the game later in the season would create a major disadvantage for football games, and announced that they have completely shelved FM 25.

REFUNDS FOR PRE-ORDERS?

Emphasizing that players who purchased FM 25 via pre-order will not be left at a disadvantage, SEGA announced that automatic refunds will be issued to all users. While the company offered its apologies to players for the cancellation, it stated that the development team will focus directly on the Football Manager 26 project.

On the other hand, SEGA also announced that no new updates or additional content will be released for Football Manager 24. This decision will force fans of the series to wait until 2026 for a new game.
